This case consists of three scenarios. Each scenario presents the reader with highly unexpected circumstances, little time to decide, and extreme pressure.
The scenarios are based on real stories in which the business and the personal world collided. One such story is that of Frédéric Pierucci, a former Alstom executive who spent two years in a high security prison in the United States. Despite serious accusations of corruption, he maintains his innocence. Rather than attempting to find the truth of who is right and who is wrong, the case aims to inspect high stakes situations such as Mr. Pierucci’s arrest from different perspectives. What would you do?
1) Personal decision making in the heat of the moment.
2) Factoring in family and loved ones into the decision.
3) Executive perspective: differentiating personal and professional values.
4) There are critical decisions in life, where your choices shape who you are and what your destiny is. For those questions, there is no perfect answer. And no algorithm could tell you what you want to do with your life. This case is about governance in a multipolar world.
