This case study presents an example of business model innovation in the context of primary care delivery. It documents the story of Laastari, a new IT-driven retail health clinic chain based in Finland, including the process that links conceptual strategy to implementation and practice, as well as the evolving stakeholder ecosystem of the company.
The case is designed to facilitate classroom discussions aimed at providing tools for driving improvement of existing or new health services. The goal is to illustrate an example of innovation and operations strategy in healthcare delivery, discuss the risks and challenges, and explore the "emergent" nature of business models, particularly in the healthcare sector.
