To understand the obstacles that hinder the emergence of new ideas, he examines the work of scientists and inventors, in academia and in firms, striving for innovative performance on the frontier of science and technology. Michaël Bikard is one of the INSEAD pioneers of “mini-cases” – short, one-page scenarios designed to spur discussion in the classroom.

Five INSEAD professors have risen up the ranks of The Case Centre’s top 40 best-selling authors of academic year 2018/2019. The ranking is based on volume of sales from the preceding year, highlighting the enduring strength of each professors’ case work.
INSEAD professors have received five category awards in the 2018 EFMD Case Writing Competition. This represents the most number of awards won by a single business school this year, making INSEAD the biggest overall winner.
Organised since 1988, the Competition recognises innovative and impactful case writing and teaching in 17 categories representing critical management areas.
INSEAD, the business school for the world, today announced that 13 INSEAD cases have been listed among The Case Centre’s most popular cases of 2018. The Case Centre is a global organisation dedicated to promoting the case method in management education.
Cases are named best sellers when they rank in the top 15 by number of copies sold in their category. This year marks an improvement over the previous year, when 11 INSEAD cases were named as best sellers by The Case Centre.
“Students can be really knowledgeable – and passionate – about a particular company or region. They understand what their fellow students will like and connect with, and I have found them to be deeply engaged in both the research and the topics as case writing collaborators,” reports Felipe Monteiro, Affiliate Professor of Strategy, talking about the involvement of MBA and PhD students in case writing.

Clément Boussard is the CEO and founder of Stanley Robotics, a Paris-based startup selling automated valet parking solutions. The case illustrates the typical challenges faced by innovators (here an entrepreneur) selling a technological innovation and dealing with their first customers.
The first of the three cases in the 3M Company Series describes the building of the Company from 1914 through to the 1950s. The second, B, case deals with the growth years with particular emphasis on the development of the organisation and strategy needed to keep the company entrepreneurial as it grew in size and in technologies.
